Hario Buono Drip Kettle Review

I make coffee in a Chemex 1-3 Cup Coffee Maker and controlling the pour is important. It's almost impossible to control the pour from a standard kettle. The Buono drip kettle allows very good control and really makes a difference in the coffee. I boil water in a kettle then transfer to the Buono and let the water sit for one minute which gives it time to cool to the right temp (about 92C). I believe it's OK to boil the water in the Buono but I don't. I make sure to dry it when I'm done and only use it to pour. So far, it's been excellent.

Whirlpool 30"GAS F/S S/C RNG ACCUBAKE WP Review

My range is similar, but a slide in/gas and the touch pad simply stopped working. The range is just over a year old and I'm terrified after reading the above review that it's the same thing and will be very expensive to repair. The range itself was $1100 so if I have to pay for repair, I will be extremely upset. I have been happy with this product up until now.

Pactiv/E Z Foil 88802A Burner Bib For Gas Stove Review

Even though the picture shows round burner bibs the ones received were Square. The shipping was very over-priced at $7 but I was having a hard time finding them online and just bought them because they were for my Grandmother who is home bound. To be fair, in the description box it does say that the certain numbers are square but I didn't feel the need to read the description since this isn't rocket science. I figured the picture which clearly says "Round Aluminum Burner Bibs" would suffice. I have never seen someone take a picture of the wrong product and slap it on and say "That will do, I hope they read the description" with it being so hard to take pictures these days with digital cameras being a rarity. In addition, this seller does not even sell round burner bibs.

Kudos - months later and it shows Square Burner Bibs in the picture instead of the round ones I received.

Delonghi Dual Fuel Oven Stainless Steel - 24 Inch Review

My close personal friend, Evelyn, purchased the DeLonghi DEBIGE2440SS 24-Inch Electric Gas Double Wall Oven - Stainless Steel...
Evelyn is 94 years old, and still is an excellent chef.
Her oven was installed and the $2,000 check cashed quickly.
Unfortunately, the gas oven has never held a consistant temperature, and the clock/oven timer has never worked right, running at 1/2 speed right out of the box.
The oven, when set at 350 degrees, runs at around 225, yet burns anything in the rear of the oven.
Evelyn has been summarily ignored by the US service centers, has been rudely dealt with by all involved, and has not been called back by others. A service person did come out, but had never worked on this model, and left. On his unknowing recommendation, there will be another service visit scheduled March 8, to try to repair the timer, but the oven still cannot cook correctly.
This review is the culmination of an entire family trying very hard as a team to get this oven working. We are all extremely upset at the company, it's distributors, and DeLonghi Customer Service. It seems they all hide behind a maze of number choices on their telephone system, and when you do get thru, do not call you back.
ps: "Totally Satisfied" does NOT apply to this product!

Update - Repair guy showed up, tried to repair this shiny new oven, could not. Has left, owner spitting mad. Just say No DeLonghi!

Frigidaire Gallery Series Gas Range - Bisque Review

We have the black color - I hate it because it streaks something awful and I already have 2 noticable scratches after only 6 months.However, I don't think that is the fault of this particular brand but just of the black finish in general.I wish I had stuck with the bisque color that the Lowes salesman laughed at.

Other than that, this oven is reliable and performs ok.I do use the Speed Bake button but I can't say I have noticably different results and have not adjusted any of my recipes.I do think frozen pizzas come out noticably better with Speed Bake.I think we paid about $750 for this oven 6 months ago.It's not bad and I would probably pay the extra $200 for the "convectin" Speed Bake feature because I think it adds resale value, but I know it's not a true convection oven - just a fan inside the oven.

Summit: Professional Series TM13027BFKWY 20" Freestanding Gas Range with Manual Clean, Electronic I Review

We were very excited to purchase this stove 2 years ago, but it has been a disappointment. The electric starters have cracked on several occasions and cost a lot to replace. Although the stove is supposed to prevent water & food from getting below the lid, it does. The stove, although level, still tends to tilt food forward so cakes come out looking funny and items cooking on the burner, like eggs, have to be adjusted for an even cook.

Making it worse is that already stain/rust marks have begun to appear on the front, the metal grill on top of the burners (on which the pots and pans sit) is chipped and stained, and the cheap plastic cover over the time display has become warped from the heat.

I don't recommend buying this stove.

This is a great basic range.Produces more heat than others in its price range. Available for $339 and up. Oven racks are lovely heavier weight steel which glide smoothly.

Careful of the double hinge double spring tensions doors.It will snap shut and hurt fingers so beware.Some complain about cleaning porcelain ranges of this type well do I have help for you. Use FORMULA 420.Non toxic.No sickening perfume.Gentle on hands and WORKS.Shake well.Squeeze on the pretty sea blue gritty liquid and leave to set while you do your nails or place dishes in dishwasher and with a cloth, non scratch tuffy kind of pad or even BRILLO (if burnt on is that bad) everything comes off easily.I bought Formula 420 for Pyrex and just had it sitting here.It didn't do diddly for burnt up Pyrex but does wonders on a stove top and you can't hide a thing with a white range.

Nice graphics by each knob tell you which are FRONTBACK and believe you me that matters since manufacturers are not standardizing on placement, you can get quite the arm burn if you came from a stove where the leftmost knob is for the front.You arm is OVER the front burner as you reach to put a pot on the back as you turn the second left most knob and WHOOSH, it is *that* knob that is for the FRONT and you've lit a big fire under your arm!So PAY ATTENTION TO THAT GRAPHIC until you have placement memorized (to care for elderly or children REMOVE THE KNOBS that operate the front burners altogether).

Premier : SLK249T Gas Range Review

My last oven was not expensive.Magic Chef I believe.But it lasted over 20 years w/o any issues until the ignitors started to go.Instead of having it repaired, I decided to have it replaced. I did some homework and read a few reviews on the Premier line.The oven arrived and with the exception of nearly blowing up every time you light the burners, it worked fair for 18 months (6 months after the warranty ran out).Suddenly without warning the oven wouldn't light.I called a repair company and they said it was a thermostat.After much effort to contact the service dept and one incorrect part being sent, Premier sent a new one.I was then told that I also needed an electrode and module.To make matters worse, when I went to clean the broiler I noticed that a large section of the paint underneath had been peeling.Bottom line is I seriously regret my decision to purchase this oven.2 years into owning it, I've paid as much in repairs bills as I would have if I had just bought a better one.Lesson learned.Maybe I can sell it on ebay.

This range is a joy to cook on and a good value for the money.

I cook the majority of our meals "from scratch" and really wanted a five burner stove when it was time to replace the old GE gas range that came with our condo.

The burner layout on this Frigidaire was clearly designed by someone who really cooks.The cast iron grates fit together to create a continuous surface that makes it easy to move heavy pots around as needed.

The simmer burner is located directly behind the power burner.I can start a large pot on the power burner and then just push it to the simmer burner to finish the cooking.The simmer burner allows my rice dishes (pullaos), halvas, reduction sauces, etc to finish cooking gently and it's great for melting chocolate.There is no need to place a simmer ring on top of the burner to prevent scorching the bottom when the lowest setting is not low enough.

The power burner will bring a large pot of water to boil *very* quickly.

I love the center oval burner to heat the griddle for making flat breads (chapati, naan, tortillas), crepes, pancakes, dosa etc.The shape of this burner is also perfect for using my GraniteWare oval roaster on the stovetop if I don't need the griddle.

The two mid-range burners on the left side heat quickly as well.There is a wide range of heat choices from the lowest to the highest setting.

We did a lot of research on gas ranges before making this purchase.
I recommend the ConsumerSearch dot com site as a starting place for research.The ConsumerSearch site analyzes many types of reviews before making recommendations.They have links to their sources and more information.We read through the reviews and evaluations of the higher priced gas ranges (~$1,600)to see what features are currently available.

There were only a few negative reviews about the Frigidaire gas ranges.In reading through these, I got the impression that they were written by persons who did not know how to cook.One person complained that a pot of water took too long to boil *on the back burner*!I think he was trying to boil the water on the simmer burner.It wasn't designed for that. Use the power burner if you are making pasta!

The only thing I might want to add to this model range is a convection oven option.That would have been nice to have.The higher priced models did include the convection feature.

Unfortunately the convection models all came with the self-cleaning oven feature.The gas pipe in my kitchen sticks out 2" from the wall.This fits neatly into the open space at the back of a range with a manual clean oven.The self-cleaning ovens have an additional solid heat shield in the back.This would prevent the range from sliding all the way back against the wall so it would stick out a couple of inches in front of the cabinets.I never used the self-cleaning oven feature when I've had it in other homes.I tried it once - it was a great waste of fuel and I still had to manually wipe out the oven afterwards.I do a of baking and have never needed the self-cleaning feature.

I am really happy with this product.We got most of the features of the high end models at less than half the price.

Overall, I like my range.I have had it a little over a year and use it a lot, being a homemaker.There are two problems that we have had with this range. The knob for the oven has been replaced half a dozen times because the numbers wear off.I don't use chemical cleaners on my range, or even in my house.The company said last time that the knob I was getting was from a new shipment and shouldn't have a problem.Today I called again because all the numbers have worn off my knob.It is very difficult to adjust the temperature of an oven when you can't read the numbers. The person who took my call asked me how I cleaned my knob. I told him that I didn't use any chemicals just water (if needed). He said he hadn't had any other complaints. Perhaps that is because most Americans don't bake much anymore. The stove knobs have not had any writing wear off on them. So, it has to be the knob. He is sending me a knew knob, but I'm not to positive about it's numbers lasting. In addition, the controller that turns the gas on and off for the oven quit working about ten months after we purchased the stove. The company did fulfill it's warranty and fix it, but I was disappointed that it didn't last very long and hope the component does not wear out again in ten months.
